Get Up Early for Sunrise Sale Redux
Here’s a fun one. Last year was such a success, we’re doing it again this year.
If you remember, we’ve accumulated thousands of pieces of silver jewelry — literally thousands (REAL silver — not silverplate, but sterling silver). As many of you know, we love acquiring high-end arts and crafts silver. Pieces designed by Georg Jensen, William Spratling, Margot de Taxco, Ballesteros, and David Andersen are sold at retail or go into our online auction.
But along the way we acquire cool sterling silver rings, bracelets and necklaces as well as mass-produced silver that we can’t melt because they are too interesting to melt, and too inexpensive to justify polishing, photographing, listing, invoicing and shipping. Even doubling our money wouldn’t cover the labor.
So they just … sat, piled high in a corner of the vault. Beautiful little artisanal pieces and funky old Taxco creations, some turquoise stuff too; all cool, but all unloved and tarnishing in silence.
Enter the Downtown St. Pete Sunrise Sale. Normally we skip it — our inventory’s usually too pricy (and let’s be honest, we’re not really morning people). But Katrina’s idea from last year was terrific and so we are doing it again this year: offering our silver to the community at a deep, deep discount. We’ll polish some, leave the rest raw and rugged, and set up bins: $10, $25, $50 and $100. Plus, a Brooke Curated Collection of special pieces from $300-$1,000.

We will donate 10% of the proceeds to Innovare (which provides housing for working people in transition) and to Rotary (which brought us so many wonderful exchange students over the years).
Out of 45 employees, nine have sworn they’ll show up at 6:43 a.m. (So we’re counting on at least six.) After the sale, the silver can be seen during the following week by making an appointment, though the choicest goodies will be gone early on July 16. Come early, dig deep, and score some silver treasures that finally deserve their moment to shine.
Last year we met so many new people who became year-long customers, so if you’ve never been to our store, please come this year, because we are anxious to meet you! The sale will start at 6:43 a.m. on Thursday, July 16. Be there. (I’ll be in my pajamas.)
