What’s It Worth? Shipwrecks Yield Forgotten Antiquities

Recently, we received a consignment from an early Mel Fisher investor: a 1715 Shipwreck Fleet high-karat yellow gold amethyst Bishop’s Cross Our Lady of Guadalupe. Although it contains less than $2,000 worth of gold and is missing stones, we estimated it would fetch $20,000 to $30,000 at one of our auctions.

Due to our geographical location here in Florida, we have become experts in such things because we have bought so many of them. We also have a great online following for Mel Fisher and other shipwreck items.
We were able to sell this terrific small cross for $27,000 because of its provenance, so if you have anything – from inexpensive Mel Fisher items to valuable pieces like the one shown, give us a call or stop by. We are always buying antique, foreign, vintage gold and silver coins; or for more important items, consigning for our auction.
