It pleases us to offer for sale this week – as well as for informational purposes – this extraordinary pair of items. The top photo (and inset) is a Tiffany & Co. approximately 15.5 carat total weight, 7-plus-inches-long platinum diamond bracelet. This stunning art deco design has survived almost one hundred years in excellent condition, because it was housed in its original box. There are 7 larger stones, approximately 1 carat each; and 200 smaller diamonds. All of the diamonds are Tiffany quality, extremely high color, and extremely high clarity, from F to H color and VVS1 VSI clarity. The signature is still bold and beautiful. Evaluation is difficult because if Tiffany made something like this today, it would easily be $200,000.
In the 1930s, it retailed for less than $3,000. We purchased this from a Dallas jeweler for $65,000 and it is for sale in our showroom for $75,000.
The bottom photo is of an even older Tiffany oddity. These signed Tiffany screw back cufflinks are in their original box and are circa 1890. (For those not familiar, these cufflinks were designed to screw into stitched openings in buttonless cuffs to close them.) The stones are exquisite old European-cut diamonds of incredible color and clarity; the cufflinks are for sale in the showroom for $7,500. The retail appraised is considerably more than the asking price; at least triple if sold at Tiffany & Co. today.
