Patek Philippe has long been considered the best watch in the world. In the 30 years we have been buying in Tampa Bay, we have unearthed real gems including a Patek Philippe wrist chronograph that we paid over $225,000 for.
This week, a Baltimore jeweler sent a collection of 60 Patek Philippe pocket watches that his customer had collected over 25 years. While there are pricier watches in the collection, these two are my favorites: The first (a.), because of its gargantuan size — almost 58 mm — and its incredible pristine condition. We paid $7,000. The second (b.), is an extremely rare oval-shaped Patek Philippe pocket watch that, if perfect, we think would bring even more than the larger watch. However, the enamel dial is damaged near the 3; so we were cautious with our offer and paid $3,000.
